I began to sing, thoughtfully forming the words and notes. An old tune my mother had taught me when I was much younger. The restless pacing in the next cell ceased, and her low melodious voice joined in. Fear subsided. I could hear other voices blending in. It was as if the very walls and stone floors joined in and we were comforted.
